Emergency Planning Subject Area Committee Meeting File: 92-002-493 The Edison Electric Institute (EEI) Emergency Planning Subject Area Committee will be holding a national meeting on November 16-18, 1992 in San Diego, California. As part of this meeting, an initiative has been established to solicit input on Emergency Planning issues from the NRC Administrator ofthe region in which the meeting is being conducted.

As Committee Chairman, I would like to take this opportunity to invite you or a NRC Region V representative to attend this meeting to provide the Committee with your perceptions as to the issues facing EP today. You would also be free to present any items you feel are relevant to the group, recognizing that the Committee may ask questions about related areas. Bob Erickson from the NRC in Washington, D.C. and Vern Wingert of the FEMA national office have also been invited to attend in the same capacity (see attached agenda).

Please note that the bulk of the meeting is closed to non-utility personnel. We therefore would like you to join us on the morning of Wednesday, November 18 and stay with us through lunch. EEI feels that NRC regional participation is important to the success ofthe meeting. We are certain that the utilities represented on the Committee willbe interested in hearing your views and responding to your inquiries as well.
