Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station (PVNGS)
Units 1, 2, and 3 Docket Nos. STN 50-528/529/530 Closure of Generic Letter 88-14, Instrument Air File: 92-056-026 92-010-026 Generic Letter (GL) 88-14, issued by the NRC on August 8, 1988, addressed a concern with Instrument Air.
Arizona Public Service Company (APS) provided responses to GL 88-14 as delineated in the enclosure to this letter.
By letter, dated January 3, 1991, the NRC indicated that the responses provided by APS were acceptable and that APS should indicate when the verification activities associated with GL 88-14 were complete.
The verification activities requested by GL 88-14, "Instrument Air Supply Problems AffectingSafety-Related Equipment" have been completed with the supporting information forwarded to the NRC (see enclosed list of references).
As discussed in our letter dated July 13, 1991, a plant modiTication to replace or improve the existing air dryers and filters has been approved and scheduled for implementation in each of the units by the end of September 1993.
This modification is still scheduled, and since APS has fulfilled the verification requirements of GL 88-14, the issue can be closed prior to the completion of this modification.
