UNITS 1, 2, AND 3 ADDENDUMTO REPLY TO NOTICE OF VIOLATION50-529/89-03%5 File: 9170<26 Arizona Public Ser vice Company (APS) letter dated March 27, 1989 (Reference 1), replied to NRC Notice of Violation 50-529/89-03-01. to that letter identified a number of radiation monitor'ing improvements to be implemented at PVNGS.
- However, as a result of the evaluation discussed in Reference 2, APS has identified a more cost-effective resolution to preclude the potential for vapor condensation in the radiation monitors.
This more cost-effective resolution consists of routing the condenser air removal vent to the plant vent, thereby, eliminating the need forthe currently installed high range monitor RU-142.
In addition, the currently installed low range monitor, RU-141, will be reconfigured as an in-line detector and used for trending.
This modification however, cannot be implemented without prior NRC approval because it involves a change to the Technical Specifications.
APS willsubmit the proposed License Amendment Request by December 6, 1991.
Based on the above, APS will not be making the temporary heat tracing modification permanent modification on PVNGS Unit 2 as described in References 1 and 2.
