Response
to Inspection Report 89-12, Progress Update File:
90-019-026 Reference 1 provided a description of APS'ction plan and commitments to complete the verification/restoration of the EE-580 system data"base.
At that time, approximately 6000 discrepancies remained.
During the review and evaluation phase of the Action Plan, it became apparent that a large number of those discrepancies had been dispositioned through the normal course of EE-580 data handling (e.g.,
DCP closeout by the System Engineering Department).
These early review/evaluation results indicated that at least 74% of the 6000 discrepancies had already been dispositioned.
Thi,s progress is attributed to the improvements made to the procedures governing the EE-580 data base and to personnel adherence to that procedural process.
Completion of the review and evaluation phase of the Action Plan was not expected until October, 1991; however, based upon the findings described, Engineering management determined that a revised course of action would facilitate resolution of EE-580 data base concerns.
A review of EE-580 data for all three units is being conducted to verify the exact number of discrepancies that have been resolved within the normal work process and to ascertain the number of discrepancies which still exist.
We expect to complete this review by the end of December, 1990 and document the results by

Letter to John B. Martin Page 2 of 2 February 1, 1991.
To date, the review has confirmed our estimate that a
minimal number of outstanding items'remain (i.e., ( 2% of the original 100,000 discrepancies);
therefore, restoration and documented confirmation of the EE-580 data base will be completed by August 15, 1991, which will be several months earlier than previously anticipated.
Should any significant deficiencies be identified, those items will be resolved individually with appropriate analyses and walkdowns as necessary.
Valkdowns, if required, will be conducted in conjunction with the next refueling outage for the affected unit(s).
Should you have questions regarding this information, please contact me.
Very truly yours, VFC/TRB/PJC/dmn cc:
