Addendum.to Reply to a Notice of Violation - 529/89-03-01 File'0-070-026 This letter provides an update.on the status of specific corrective actions discussed in the Referenced letter.
These corrective actions involve'.
1.
The reorganization of Chemistry and Radiological Effluent Departments.
2.
The revision of Radiological Effluent Program and implementing procedures, and The development and implementation of training on the new Radiological Effluent Procedures.
REORGANIZATION APS has completed the reorganization of the Radiation Protection, Chemistry, Radiological Effluent, and Radiological Waste Departments.
This reorganization proceeded more slowly than anticipated and delayed the revision and'mplementation of the new radiological effluent program and procedures.
PROCEDURES The Radiological Effluent Program and implementing procedures are being rewritten to,provide detailed instruction and/or are being reformatted to facilitate use.
The Surveillance Test Procedures (STPs) have been revised and approved.
These STP revisions have substantially improved their quality.
The remaining effluent procedures are being revised to reflect the completed reorganization.
The Radiological Effluent Program and'mplementing procedures will be revised and approved by October 29, 1990, with an effective date no later than December 31, 1990.

102-01873-MFC/TRB/JJN October 15, 1990 TRAINING A comprehensive training program for the effluent technici'ans has been developed and is being implemented.
Based on task analysis, training program descriptions have been written that define the training and qualification requirements.
The job qualification standards were then developed/revised to reflect the on-the-job training requirements of these program descriptions.
In addition to the on-the-job training, a thirteen week classroom initial training program has been. developed.
Implementation of the thirteen week classroom initial training started, on September ll and is scheduled for completion on December 21, 1990.
A continuing training program has been implemented with presentations on dose assessment, effluent release
- permits, and industry events.
In 1990, a total of 120 hours0.00139 days <br />0.0333 hours <br />1.984127e-4 weeks <br />4.566e-5 months <br /> of continuing training has been provided to date.
