Use of ASME Code Case No. N-416 File:
89-A-005-419.05 The purpose of this letter is to confirm a
telephone conversation between Messrs.
T. L. Chan (NRC/NRR) and J.
R. Provasoli, M. W. Lantrip and M. A. Melton (APS) on May 8, 1989.
The call was made to inform the NRC o'f PVNGS intention of using ASME Code Case N-416, Al'ternative.Rules for Hydrostatic Testing of Repair or Replacement of Class 2 Piping Section XI, Division 1.
This Code Case is listed in Regulatory Guide 1.147, Revision 6 dated'ay 1988 as being approved for use in lieu of the Section XI requirements.
APS is herewith notifying the NRC that ASME Code Case No.
N-416 is being implemented at PVNGS and that it is being integrated into the facility inservice inspection program.
