88-056-026'8-070-026 Please find attached a copy, of the.evaluation of the cable support concern identified during the SSFI inspection.

ANPP committed to provide a copy of the evaluation for your 'review.
This evaluation has formulated a
rational and conservative approach to investigate the potential for the nylon ties used to tie vertical run cable bundles at PVNGS to break during a Safe Shutdown.Earthquake (SSE) or for the cables to slip and produce tension on the terminal connections.
This rationale was based predominantly on thermal aging-since the radiation damage threshold (i.e.,
initial onset of detectable damage) for polyamide (nylon) is typically on the order of 5E5 rads (EPRI NP-1558 and NP-4172 SP).
The polyamide tie wraps are being utilized in an environment with an expected Total Integrated Dose (TID) of less than lE3 rads for 40 years.
As a
- result, it is determined that the polyamide (nylon) will perform acceptably from a radiation standpoint for the life of the plant.
The results conclude that the cables. will not produce tension on the terminal connections and also that the ties will not break during an SSE.
Therefore, there is no safety concern.
