Dear Mr. Knighton:

Reference (1) identifies- operating experience of shift staffing as an issue relating to PVNGS Unit 3 which is still outstanding. Attached please find a summary of the Palo Verde Unit 3 Operations experience base for staff review.

To document the experience base, summary tables have been completed for nine SROs that currently fulfill the six months "hot" experience requirement (with six weeks

>207o power). Six individuals meeting the requirement will be assigned on-shift in Unit 3. "Hot" experience levels gained at PVNGS begin with initial Mode 3 entry and are current as of December 31, 1986.

By submittal of this information, we believe the issue of operating experience of shift staffing for Unit 3 has been addressed and can be closed out.
