AUDITREPORT ON THE YEAR 2000 CONTINGENCY PLANNING PROGRAM FOR THE PALO VERDE NUCLEAR GENERATING STATION (TAC NOS. MA1868, MA1869, AND MA1870)

Dear Mr. Levine:

I On May 18-20, 1999, the NRC staff conducted an audit of the Year 2000'(Y2K) contingency planning program at the Palo Verde'Nuclear Generating-Station, Units 1,,2, and 3 as a follow-up to NRC Generic Letter 98-01, 'Year 2000 Readiness,of'Computer Systems at Nuclear Power Plants," issued on May 1.1, 1998; The enclosed report presents the results of the audit.

The results of this audit and subsequent audits at other selected nuclear power plants will be used by the staff to determine the need for additional'action, if any, on Y2K readiness for nuclear power plants.

In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790'of the NRC's "Rules of Practice," a copy, of this letter and its enclosure willbe placed in the NRC Public Document Room.
