Generic Letter No. 89-10, "Safety Related Motor Operated Valve Testing and Surveillance" File:
89-056-026 Arizona Public Service Company has completed reviewing Generic Letter 89-10, "Safety Related Motor Operated Valve Testing and Surveillance."
A multidiscipline Engineering Task Force has been formed to augment the current Palo Verde Motor Operated Valve Program to include the requirements of this Generic Letter.
A schedule with the completion dates for requested actions in the Generic Letter will be prepared by June 28, 1990.
As motor operated valve performance data is obtained by Palo Verde and the Nuclear Industry the current assumptions of the Generic Letter may not be validated. In this case the commitment to testing every valve would not be necessary.
Arizona Public Service will follow the progress of industry experience and evaluate the need for continued testing of motor operated valves on the basis of these and the Palo Verde test results. If findings in the industry and at Palo Verde indicate the testing outlined in Generic Letter 89-10 is not required to verify motor operated valve operability, this commitment
