Subject:
Radiation Monitoring System (RMS).
Dear Mr. Knighton:
The ANPP project goal for the Unit 3 Radiation Monitoring System (RMS) has been to complete all Phase I preoperational testing prior to fuel load.
We are working to an augmented schedule and had been progressing firmly towards that goal.
- However, we have experienced major problems due to the availability of parts.
As a result of these
- problems, we are forced to adjust our goal.
Our schedule now entails the completed testing of only those radiation monitoring equipment required by the Technical Specifications prior to fuel load.
The attachment to this letter lists those monitors that will not be tested prior to fuel load.
These monitors will be tested prior to initial criticality.
This change does not present a safety
- concern, and therefore no compensatory measures are required.
Those monitors not required by Technical Specifications and not listed in the in the attachment have been satisfactorily tested.
