Safety Evaluation Report related to the operation of Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station, Units 1, 2, and 3 (NUREG-0857),
Supplement 7, dated December 1984, Section 6.2.6.
Dear Mr. Knighton:
The reference (1) letter requested an exemption for PVNGS Unit 1 to 10CFR50, Appendix J concerning testing of air locks.
The reference (2) letter provided additional information concerning air lock testing that was applicable to PVNGS Units 1, 2, and 3.
The purpose of, this letter is to request an exemption for PVNGS Units 2 and 3 from the requirements stated in Section III.D.2.b(ii) of Appendix J to 10CFR50, concerning testing of air locks for periods when containment integrity is not required by the PVNGS Technical Specifications.
This has been previously reviewed by the staff (reference
- 3) and the exemption was found to be "justified and acceptable for PVNGS 1-3."
