ANPP, Chapter Summarizing a temperature

Dear Mr. Knighton:

Reference (A) indicated that ANPP would provide a reanalysis of the inadvertent deboration event.

This commitment was based solely on a potential to change the PVNGS Technical Specifications to incorporate a temperature dependent shutdown margin.

Due to the substantive nature of this change to the Technical Specifications, ANPP requested a meeting with the NRC Staff to discuss the technical acceptability of this approach.

Reference (B) documented the results of that meeting.

As a result of the staff's response, ANPP is proceeding with analysis to support changing to a temperature dependent 'shutdown margin.

The schedule for submittal of the inadver-tent deboration analysis in Reference (A) has been revised.

ANPP currently expects to submit this analysis to support the temperature dependent shutdown margin Techni-cal Specification, for NRC Staff review, by April, 1986.

If you shoul'd have any questions concerning this matter, contact Mr. M. F. Quinn of my staff.

Very truly our EEVB/KLM/slh E. E.
