Large Break LOCA Evaluation Model Palo Verde Units 2 and 3
Dear Mr. Knighton:
In a meeting with members of your "staff'eld'n August 29, 1985, ANPP discussed a method of demonstrating compliance to 10CFR 50.46.
The proposed method discussed is as follows:
ANPP will perform PVNGS specific limiting Large Break LOCA (LBLOCA) analysis using:
a) the current, approved CE evaluation model (EM) b)
the limiting (conservative) axial shape for PVNGS c)
PVNGS specific containment design
, Brian Sheron and Norm Lauben, of your staff, indicated that this analysis approach would be acceptable in demonstrating compliance to 10CFR 50;46.
The schedule for submittal of this reanalysis was also discussed.
ANPP informed the staff that the reanalysis would not be submitted 45 days prior to the PVNGS Unit 2 projected fuel load date due to the schedule CE provided ANPP on completion of the analysis.
Therefore, ANPP will submit the PVNGS specific limiting LBLOCA analysis to the staff for review and approval by October 4, 1985.
