Dear Mr. Knighton:
As a result of a request from your staff, APS is providing additional information to justify the exception to Regulatory Guide 1.75 that was taken in Amendment 4 to the FSAR.
This FSAR Amendment four exception was submitted by the referenced letter.
The Reed Switch Position Transmitter (RSPT) circuits identified in Part E to the response to Regulatory Guide 1.75 in FSAR Section 1.8 are low energy circuits.
Circuit analysis indicates that the maximum fault current would be 5.6 amperes which is less than the 25 ampere rating of the RSPT cabling.
Accordingly, a failure in the RSPT cabling could not affect other safety related cables.
