Dear Mr. Knighton:
ANPP requests an exemption from the requirements stated in Section III.D.2.b.(ii) of Appendix J to 10CFR50 concerning testing of air locks for periods when containment integrity is not required by the Technical Specifications.
Testing of air locks is required by the PVNGS Technical Specification Section 4.6.1.3 and is in accordance with the requirements of 10CFR50, Appendix J Section III.D.2.b.(i), (iii), and (iv).
ANPP believes that the requirements set forth in the PVNGS Technical Specifi-cations will sufficiently demonstrate the operability of the air locks and meet the intent of 10CFR50,Appendix J for Type B tests.
