'Co'mpany (APS) established a prompt puolic notification system for use in the event of an emergency at the Palo Verde Nuclear Gener-ating Station. The Prompt Notification Siren System (Siren System) was designed to meet Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and Fed-eral Emergency Mi nagement Agency (FERA) criteria given in NUREG-0654 and FE~fA CPG-1-17.

The siren system technical specifications were submitted to FERA for their review and comment and by letter dated December 14, 1983 FE'4IA has approved all aspects of the alert and notification system. One item remaining is the FE~~S. sponsored public survey called for by NUREG-0654

'he siren system was fully tested on September 10, 1983. The test

. was evaluated by F~ and APS. The test report is included with this report.

In September 1983, FE~i& issued "Standard Guide for the Evaluation of Alert and Notification Systems for Nuclear Power Plants" (FE.'@-43).

This report addresses the additional guidance provided in FE.'fA-43 for the evaluation of alert and notification systems. Specific descriptions of compliance with the alert and notification plan-ning standards and evaluation criteria are described or appended.
