1 Safety Evaluation Report related to the operation of Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station Units 1, 2 and 3, dated February, 1982.
Dear 1'. Knighton:
The Referenced report section 7.62, stated that low temperature overpressure (LTOP) alarms should be added prior to performing those preoperational functional tests during which the primary system is susceptible to becoming water solid.
Until such alarms are. available, appropriate administrative procedures during those tests should be provided to indicate to the operator that a low temperature event is in progress or that the shutdown cooling relief valves should be armed by manual opening of the Shutdown Cooling System isolation valves.
Administrative procedures to indicate that the shutdown cooling relief. valves should be armed by manual opening of the Shutdown Cooling System isolation valves will be utilized until an operable LTOP alarm is available.
This resolves the confirmatory issue on LTOP alarms.
