The NRC February 18, 1981 Generic letter was received by APS on March 9, 1981.

The PVNGS EOF is located onsite (outside of the protected area) in the basement of the Administration Annex Building.
(Refer to LLIR section III.A.1.2 and figure III.A.1.2-1).

The PVNGS EOF is constructed from concrete.
(Refer to ANPP-17579 JMA/NFQ dated March 19, 1981).
c.
Protection factors from 350 to greater than 2000 have been cal-culated by several different methods.
(Refer to ANPP-17579 JMA/NFQ dated March 19, 1981).
d.
EOF Construction began June 23, 1981.
e The building structure is complete except for insrumentation.
Exnect complete by fuel load.

An alternate EOF is located approximately 8 miles N( of PVNGS at the Palo Verde Inn in Tonopah.
(Refer to PVNGS Emergency Plan section 7.1.6).

The structural type is wood frame (stucco) with windows.

This was an existing structure.
d.
The structure is completed.
Is or has APS proposed any interim EOF facilities?
RESPONSE
APS is not proposing any interim facilities.
NRC Question 5:
Has NRC approved perminent facility design?
RESPONSE
As stated in the PVNGS SER (NUREG-0857) section 13.3 pg. 13-21:
the staff is currently reviewing the applicant'.s conceptual design for the upgraded emergency response facilities.
Also refer to the NRC discussion in the PVNGS SER Supplement 1 Appendix C page C-11.
