Dear Mr. Tedesco:
The referenced document contains an open item concerning the PVNGS equipment qualification programs.
Equipment qualification is divided into seismic qualification, in accordance with IEEE Standard 344-1975 and environmental qualification, in accordance with NUREG-0588.
As stated in the referenced
- document, Section 3.10, the NRC staff requires that a significant portion, 85%, of the equipment important to safety must be qualified, documented in an auditable manner and installed onsite before an onsite NRC audit can be performed.
The NRC staff also requires a summary of seismic qualification information be submitted prior to the audit.
We plan to submit this report to you by April 1, 1982.
The reference
- document, Section 3.11, asked that we review the environmental qualification documentation for each item of safety-related electrical equipment which could be exposed to a harsh environment to determine the degree of compliance with NUREG-0588. It is our understanding that the NRC,staff will require an audit of the environmental qualification program the same as for the seismic qualification pxogram, that is, require a significant portion, 85%, of the qualification completed, documentation in an auditable
- form, and installed onsite.
Also, required is a summary of environmental qualification information for electrical equipment required for safety which may be subjected to a harsh environment.
We plan to submit this summary by June 1, 1982.
