Dear Mr. Tedesco:
This letter provides a clarification to NRC Question 430.11 regarding design of the diesel engine combustion air intake and exhaust system piping and components.
The diesel generator combustion air intake and exhaust system is discussed in FSAR Section 9.5.8.
Piping and components are shown on FSAR Figure 9.5-9.
Both the air intake and exhaust piping were procured to ASME Section III Class 3 requirements to conform with the recommendations of Reg.
Guide 1.26 Quality Group C.
,However, the exhaust piping will not be code stamped since the operating temperature will exceed the ASME Section III Class 3 limits.
The intake on exhaust silencers, air intake filters and flexible connections are designed to PVNGS Quality Assurance Class Q Seismic I categories, as discussed in FSAR Section 3.2, and are manufactured to recognized industry standards.
