Dear Mr. Tedesco:

The following information on the PVNGS meteorological system is provided in response to questions transmitted to us by 6/19/81 telecon with your staff.

The meteorological instrumentation provided at PVNGS is listed in our response to question 2A.2 in the Palo Verde FSAR.

The manufacturer, model and specifications are provided in Table 2.3-26 of the FSAR.

Both Tower A and B will contain these identical instruments, as described in question 2A.2.

The calibration of these instruments will be in compliance with R.G. 1.33 and these procedures are per those of R.G. 1.23 for safety related activities.

The system will be in operation by fuel load.

Attached is a drawing indicating the approximate location of Tower B.

A marked-up FSAR page 2A-2 indicating a slight change in the wording, which will be incorporated in a future amendment is also attached.

If you have any questions, please contact me.

Very truly u

E. E. Van Brunt, Jr.

The auxiliary analog information for each tower system is provided on analog recorders located at the meteorological station in'the respective tower system equipment trailers.

Analog information for each tower system is converted to digital data and transmitted by two serial links to the plant site where the data is reduced to fifteen-minute and hourly average meteorological parameters, and where all effluent and environmental parameters are recorded and available for time Amendment 5
