Dear Sir:
A preliminary written report and an interim report of a reportable deficiency under 10CFR50.55(e) was transmitted by References (1) and (2), respectively.
Reference (2) estimated that information from qualification testing would be available by August 1, 1980.
This information is summarized on the enclosed interim report.
The qualification testing is not complete due to difficulties encountered during its implementation.
It is now expected that this information will be finalized by November 15, 1980 at which time a complete report will be submitted.
The Stop Work order", issued. March 5, 1980, on installation of the Rockbestos Class IE cables has been partially lifted for out-of-containment installations as explained in the interim report.
A decision will be made by September 1,
1980 on the disposition of the remainder of the quarantined cable and the cable previously pulled.
Very truly yours, EEVBJr/BSK:skc Enclosure soosqae &9C)
