PALO VERDE SYSTEM REVIEM HEETIHG In order to complete the review of applfcatfons fn a tfmly manner, both the industry and the NRC need to identify better ways of performfng this process.-
One such way fs to hold detailed system review meetings between the applicant and the vendors, with NRC fn attendance, so that the NRC staff can understand the bases for system design decisfons sooner.
A system review meeting was held at the Palo Verde site on Nay 8, 1979 wfth HRC participation.
The NRC evaluation of the effectiveness of this meeting fn expediting the review process was generally, favorable.
The prospect manager for Palo Verde was notified by Arizona Public Servfc&QPX) that Harold Denton asked APS to schedule the next system review meeting fn
- Bethesda, ffaryland.
This request was confirmed by the project manager fn a flay 29, 1980 telecon with D. Ross.
The purpose of holding the meeting fn Bethesda is to allow all Division Dfrectors to participate in evaluating the feasibility of adopting a systems approach to the review process.
Attached is a draft of the meeting notice on the forthcoming system review meeting with Palo Verde.
