a Your [[letter::GO2-94-202, Responds to GL 94-03 Re IGSCC of Core Shrouds.Exam Summary Sheets for Facility H3 & H4 Core Shroud Welds & Drawings of Facility Core Shroud Weld Details Encl|letter dated August 24, 1994]], provided the Supply System's response to Generic Letter (GL) 94-03, "Intergranular cStress Corrosion Cracking of Core Shrouds in BWRs," for the WNP-2 plant.

The NRC staff required that licensees submit, pursuant to 10 CFR 50.54(f),

a written response to address specified information in the GL.

The NRC staff has completed its review of your response to GL 94-03.

The review is documented in the the enclosed safety evaluation.

Based on its review of the information you provided, the NRC staff concludes that while cracking cannot be entirely ruled out, the WNP-2 core shroud is not likely to contain cracks which could compromise its structural integrity.

The NRC staff also concludes that the licensee's materials-based safety assessment of the WNP-2 shroud is sufficient to justify continued safe operation of the unit until the next core shroud inspection and that a detailed consequence analysis is unncessary.

In accordance with the reporting requirements of GL 94-03 and your commitment in your August 24,

1994, response, you are required to submit, no later than 90 days prior to entering the outage in which the core shroud inspection is scheduled to occur, a detailed inspection scope for a more comprehensive examination of the WNP-2 shroud.
