WNP-2 staff members identified in the enclosed

inspection report.

Areas

examined during this inspection

are described

in the enclosed

inspection

report.

Within these

areas,

the inspection consisted of selective

examinations

of procedures

and representative

records,

interviews with personnel

and

observations

by the inspectors.

Based

on the results of this inspection,

certain of your activities appeared

to

be in violation of NRC requirements,

as specified in the enclosed

Notice of

Violation (Notice).

These violations are of concern

because

they involve the

monitoring and control of personnel

radiation exposures

in high radiation

areas,

The enforcement discretion provided by Section

V.G of the Enforcement

Policy is not.being exercise for,these violations because

you failed to

promptly and fully evaluate. the violations to prevent future occurrences.

This

=report also describes

examples of poor air sampling technique,

inoperable

radiation monitoring equipment,

and poor storage

practices

involving a sealed

'ource

of significant size that deserve your attention.

You are required to respond to this letter and should follow the instructions

specified in the enclosed

Notice when preparinq your response.

In your

response,

you should document the specific actions

taken

and any additional

actions you -plan to prevent recurrence.

After reviewing your response

to this

notice, including your proposed corrective actions

and the results of future

inspections,

the

NRC wi'll determine

whether further

NRC enforcement action

necessary

to ensure

compliance with NRC requirements.
