- 6. 2. 3 NUCLEAR SAFE i ( ASSURANC GROUP NSAG FUNCTION 6.2.3.1 The HSAG shall function to examine unit operating charac eristics, NRC issuances, industry advisories, i.icensee Event Reports, and other sources of unit design and operating experience information, including units of similar
- design, which may indicate areas for improving unit safety.
The HSAG shall make detailed recommendations for revised procedures, equioment and modifications, maintenance activities, operations activities, or other means of improving unit safety to the Oirector of Licensing and Assurance.
COMPOSITION 6.2.3.2 Th SAG shall be composed of at least five, dedicated, full-time engineers, inimum of three'ocated on site Each shall have a bachelor's degree in engineering or related science or qualifica-tions meeting AHS.3.1 Oraft Revision dated March,3.3, 1981, Section 4.2 or 4.4, or equivalent, as describ'ed in Sec ion 4.1 and at, least 2 years professional level experience in his ffge d.at,least I year ot'hich experience shall be in the nuclear field.
RESPONSIBILITIES 6.2.3.'3 The NSAG shall be responsible for maintaining surveillance of unit activities to provide independent'~verification" tfiat these ac ivities are performed-correctly and that human errors are reduced as much as practical.

- 6. 2.4 SHIFT TECHNICAL AOYISOR 6.2.4. 1 The Shift Technical Advisor shall provide advisory technical support to the Shirt Manager in the areas of thermal hydraulics, reactor engineer'ing, and plant analysis with regard to the safe operation of the unit.
The Shirt Technical Advisor shall have a bachelor's degree or equivalent in a scientisic or engineering discipline and shall have received specific training in the response and analysis of the unit ror transients and accidents, and in uni design and layout, including -he capabilities or instrumenta"ion nd controls in the control room.
