Supplemental Safety Evaluation WPPSS Nuclear Project No.
2 Docket No. 50-397 13.3.2.2 Emergency Facilities and Equipment The licensee has established a Technical Support Center, an Operations Support Center, and a near-site Emergency Operations Facility (EOF) located 0.75 miles southwest of the WNP-2 reactor site.
The licensee has also established an alternate location for certain EOF functions in WPPSS headquarters in Richland, Washington, 9.5 miles from the site.
The primary EOF has an estimated protection factor of 4000 and is equipped with a ventilation system with HEPA filtration that can be isolated.
In a letter from D. G. Eisenhut (NRC) dated October 7, 1983, the licensee was informed that the alternate location, in conjunction with the primary EOF, was acceptable to the Commission.
The approval applied only to the location and habitability features of the primary EOF and the alternate location for certain EOF functions.
Approval of other features of these facilities, as well as those of the other emergency response facilities, will be determined in accordance with Supplement 1 to NUREG-0737.
