HNP-2 Request for Additional Informatian AsI a result of our review of your application for operating license, we find that we need additional information and commitment.

This is due to recently receiv'ed information in the geology and seismology area.

These staff concerns were provided to your staff informally in July 1982.

The staff will require HPPSS to!do the following:

(1)

Provide us with a statement concerning your program or plans ~t'o deal with the USGS estimate of both loose ash-fall thickness and rate of accumulation in the event of a vol~canic eruption which exceeds the estimates in the FSAR.

(2)

Maintain communication with the Skagit/HanfordI applicant concerning the integrated review of subsurI'fice data that hss been undertaken in response to the seismic refraction and reflectIon anomalies identified by the staff and the USGS close to both plant sites and report to us any significant findings or follow-,up investigations.

Provide us with complete information concerning the location and results of a seismic reflection study along to Columbia River that we have been made aware of by verbal communication only.
