WNP-2 REQUEST FOR INFORMATION The Structural Engineering Branch has a technical assistance contract with Lockheed Company to investigate the buckling potential of steel containment shells.

WNP-2 is one of the two plants that have been selected as the benchmark problems for the study.

He understand that WPPSS has agreed to provide pertinent design information to complete the study.

Attached is the information we need for our study.

He would like you to provide the requested information by June 22, 1981.

Support conditions of the steel containment shell at foundation.

2.

Geometry of all stiffeners; method by which the stiffeners are attached to the shell wall (continuous welding).

Locations of the stiffeners.

3.

Haterial properties for all structural parts:

a.

h/odulus, poisson's ratio b.

Stress-strain curve (for future benchmark runs with plasticity) 4.

Description of mathematical model used to represent the containment geometry.

5.

Are any estimates of sizes and types of imperfections availablef If so, we want this information.

6.

Critical buckling stresses-buckling resisting capacity.

7.

Stress distribution in the shell as a result of worst possible combination of applied loads.

8.

Load combination corresponding to (7) above.

9.

Safety margin.
