TERA NSIC TIC ACRS (16 In our letter to you, dated October 30, 1980, we requested detailed information about the design and construction of the MNP-2 free-standing, steel containment.

This request was in support of TMI Action Plan Task II.B.

i<hiIe we received most of the information requested, you did not submit the material properties test reports for the steel shell and reinforcing members; i.e., Item 4 of our October 30th letter.

To assist you in responding on this matter, we are ident-ifing in this letter the six specific material properties which we seek.

These are the modulus of elasticity, Poisson's ratio, the yield stress, the ultimate stress and the fracture stress of the plates and reinforcing members which form the primary containment.

The latter material property is that value obtained under conditions of plane strain which can be used in a fracture mechanics analysis to determine whether a oc'rack will propagate or gross yielding will occur.

Additionally, provide >the value of the bolt yield stress.

If possible, present the requested material properties as a mean value and an associated standard deviation.

Additionally, indicate the type of statistical distribution employed (e.g.,

normal or log normal).

If you have any questions on this matter, please contact the Project Manager, M. D.. Lynch, at 301/492-8413.

Sincerely, original signed by
