TENNESSEE VALLEY AUTHORITY (TVA)-WATTS BAR NUCLEAR PLANT (WBN)- NPDES PERMIT NO. TN0020168-SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION FOR SECTION 316(b)
COMPLIANCE STUDY REPORTS UNDER§ 122.21 (r) -WAIVER REQUEST TVA seeks a waiver of the Section (§) 122.21 (r)(9) through (13) information requirements of the
§ 31 S(b) rule for WBN. The enclosed document presents the justifications for such waiver based largely on the flow reductions associated with the facility's closed-cycle recirculating cooling water system, as augmented by a supplemental cooling water system, and upon the unique use of two distinct waterbodies as cooling water sources.
TVA submitted the § 122.21 (r)(2) through (8) documents required of all existing facilities to TDEC on July 27, 2017, as specified by the permit. TVA believes, that should the Director grant TVA's waiver request of the § 122.21 (r)(9) through (13) requirements, that the information previously presented, along with the supplemental information included in the enclosed, are sufficient for the Director to make a decision with regard to entrainment requirements for WBN in the subsequent permit.
