'On 3/14/80 tile D/G's vere run at design load for surveil?fiYice tasting., "A" D/G woulcl not accept full design load.

During investioation of this proble;ii it was noted that the firld leads vere hot and thon, that the in"ulation was burnt.

The leads

'86 wire) vere replaced and tha "A" D/G then accepted fulL design load, The leads cn "8" D/G frere inspected and no daf.".agc cr I5igk teu'.perature fo',ind.

On. 3/L5/80 tha plant co~.".enced shut-dof'n and coal dovn for refueling."

On'/17/8Q (Ikoffday) at about 1,0500 ÃI, engineering reported t'llfft the leads are in ffcct unflarfcizad.

They slfould be at least 3-oifpht size to handle the full field currant poiaible unde~ high load/

transient conditions.

Tld.s vas confirned on the D/G units vendor prints but tive A/E instff33Iitiori draciinps incorrectly specified tice fI6 wtrei This affects the lonp terfff reliability of the D/G units.

Hovever, it sho>>ld be, noted that the A D/G wiring shof.cd darage only af ter 0 years of operation and 3 sti) 1 shows noffe.

Also on 3/l6/SQ the integrated safeguards/Diesa) generator test was per-.'or".~cd and both units accepted the loading sequence and (partial),

load refection and restart, per the. applicable Tcchniea1 Specificati YoTi+y
