Dear Mr. Johnson:
RG&E's August 31, 1992 letter relative to Generic Letter 88-20 provided our anticipated schedule for submittal of our Level 2 PRA.
Several unavoidable circumstances have delayed our progress.
These include:
~ untimely death of the Level 1 contractor's project manager,
~ extensive additional documentation controls, needed to assure 10CFR50 Appendix B quality,
~ rework required to develop Level 1 to Level 2 interfacing models after changing Level 2 contractor organizations,
~ more detailed plant walkdown information required for internal flooding analyses than originally anticipated, and
~ complete re-review and recompilation of the Ginna-specific MAAP model to take advantage of the latest code improvements.
At this point, all Level 1 system models have been completed, and quantification is 904 complete.
The internal flooding model is 954 complete.
Level 1 to Level 2 interfacing issues are 954'esolved and binning of sequences into plant damage states is in progress.
MAAP scoping runs for Level 2 are in progress; containment event trees have been developed.
Human Reliability Assessment (HRA) procedures are also complete and detailed HRA is being completed and documented.
Based on this progress report, RGGE anticipates completion of Level 1 activities by the end of September, completion of Level 2 results by mid-November, and submittal of the Level 2
PRA to the NRC by February 1994 following a comprehensive in-house and independent review.
