steam genera'tor tube at its R. E. Ginna Nuclear power p) ant.
7be rupture is a fish mouth opening facing the steam generator wrapper.
It is 1.25 inches long,.3/8 inch at the widest opening~and begins 3.5 inches'bove the top of the tube sheet.
The ruptured tube is a tube that was plugaed in January 1976 and is in the 8-steam generator hot leg (R39-C69 During video examinations as a result of the January 25,
- 1982, s
earn generator tube rUpture, this tube was characterized as having outer surged damage but the damage was not considered.si gnificant enough to require removal.
The rupture was found by video inspections being performed during the present steam generator inspection outage that RG&E had committed to
'rior to restarting in May.
Eddy current testing during the outage has
.'hown no degradation of tubes in: the periphery of the steam generators.
The video inspection also revealed a small piece of weld rod (about 4 inches longj in each steam generator.
RG&E, and Westinghouse are evaluating the situation over the weekend to determine a course of action.
