Mahvash, This e-mail response confirms receipt of your (below) September 14, 2017, request for an extension for your response to the subject Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) Request for Additional Information (RAI) (ADAMS Accession No. ML17219A106). Based on the justification and remaining steps to complete the RAI response that was provided in your request, your RAI response date has been extended to October 3, 2017.

This message will be added to ADAMS and made an official agency record as documentation of this approved request.

In follow-up with Bob Walpoles phone conversation with you earlier today, please consider this email as a formal request for the deferral of the Response due date of September 18, 2017 for the attached STC RAI's received on August 10, 2017.

The deferral of the due date is required to allow enough turn-around time for the following to be performed in a quality manner:

1. Availability of Subject matter Experts (SMEs) in the three areas of Thermal.

Shielding/Radiation Protection, and criticality for addressing the RAIs due to vacation time

2. Availability of Subject matter Experts (SMEs) in the three areas of Thermal.

Shielding/Radiation Protection, and criticality for the review of the responses provided in item 1

3. Revision of the responses provided in item 1 based on comments received under item 2

4. Review and acceptance of the revised responses by the SMEs

5. Update of licensing Report, Thermal and Shielding report to reflect responses to the RAIs

To address items 1-5 above, we request your approval for the deferral of the due date of September 18, 2017 to October 3, 2017, i.e., extending the 45-day response time, as noted in your the NRC letter (ML17219A106) to 60-days.
