This letter provides the NRC proposed agenda for the January 17-18, 1989 meeting with Mr e Thomas liar low and other members of the Rochester Gas
& Electric Corpor-ation staff to discuss the NRC's maintenance indicator development and implement-ation activities.
Mr. Marlow, as a member of the NUMARC working group on main-tenance indicators, is participating in our activity to further understand and explore the use of maintenance indicators.
This activity is an integral part of the Commission's program to address nuclear plant maintenance.
This meeting is to pursue the issues raised in the second meeting of the NUMARC working group.
Specifically, we would like to discuss your approach to the monitoring of maintenance effectiveness and to compare the trends exhibited by the NRC indicator to those derived from your program.
The areas for discussion are more fully described in the enclosed minutes of the working group meeting.
We have also enclosed copies of the meeting summaries from the first two NRC meetings with individual utility participants in the working group - the November 29-30, 1989 meeting with Commonwealth Edison Company and the December 12-13, 1989 meeting with Southern California Edison Company.
