SUBJECT:

REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION FOR THE PROPOSED GINNA LICENSE EXTENSION On January 19, 1988, you submitted a proposed amendment to the Ginna license expiration date.

A preliminary review and discussions with your staff resulted in an RGE agreement to provide substantially more information for a proposed amendment to change the Ginna license expiration date to September 16, 2009 rather than the present date of April 25, 2006.

During these discussions, examples of recently proposed amendments of this nature were provided as guidance f'r a new submittal.

Of particular interest, is that the new submittal will reflect the results of the detailed reactor vessel inspection which will be performed during the next refueling/maintenance outage.

Your staff advises me that the revised proposed amendment to the license expiration date will be provided on or about May 1989.
