Dear Mr." Maier:

There are several ongoing staff efforts related to the review of the auxiliary feedwater system.

As significant parts of those reviews are completed we will be discussing those results with you.

Attached for your review is a partial NRC staff evaluation of the Ginna Auxili-ary Feedwater System.

This evaluation is based on TMI-2 Task Action Plan Items II.E.l.l and II.E.1.2 (from NUREG-0660) and Systematic Evaluation Program Topic X (Auxiliary Feedwater System).

We would like to discuss with you, at your earliest opportunity, the resolution of several open items noted in the report.

Resolution of these issues can be by conference telephone conversation or a meeting.

In order to maintain our schedule for prompt resolution of these concerns you should notify your Project Manager, Mr. Richard

Snaider, (301-492-7876) within 10 days of receipt of this letter of your choice and preferred date and time.

Sincerely,

Enclosure:
