Dear Mr. Eisenhut:
This submittal is in response to Supplement No.
3 to IE Bulletin 79-01B, "Environmental Qualification of Class 1E Equipment",
issued October 24, 1980.
The guidance provided in Supplement 3
was further clarified in Generic Letter 81-05, dated January 19, 1981.
Although Supplement No.
3 is not directly applicable to Ginna, since it, is an SEP plant, this information is being submitted for completeness.
Included in this submittal is the information required to document the required environmental qualification of that equipment presently installed and operable at Ginna as a result of the TMI Short Term Lessons
- Learned, as well as the TMI Action Plan (NUREG-0737).
Appropriate documentation, including test reports, is included in the Ginna Environmental Qualification file (established pursuant to Technical Specification 6.14.1).
Cold shutdown equipment, addressed in paragraph (1) of IE Bulletin 79-01B, Supplement No. 3, was included in the original scope of the environmental qualification report submitted to the NRC by RG8E via letter dated October 31, 1980.
This equipment will not be further addressed.

TMI Equipment Installed and Operable Pressurizer Safety Valve Position Indication - The Environmental Qualification Report is included.
Pressurizer Relief Valve Position Indication The appropriate portions of the NAMCO limit switch qualification test report are included.
The entire report is on file at Ginna.
Containment Sump "A" Level The design analysis for this instrumentation is included.
Reactor Coolant System Vent Valves The solenoid valves used to perform this function are the same as those used for the pressurizer relief valves (Item 35 in Table 3 of the October 31, 1980 RG6E Environmental Qualification submittal).
Documentation reference 48 and paragraph IV.43 of that report directly apply.
No additional documentation is required to be submitted.
Subcooling meter Instrumentation to detect subcooling was previously addressed in paragraphs IV.19 and IV.39 of the RGEE October 31, 1980 Submittal.
No additional information is thus required.
