GINNA)

As discussed with Dr. Necredy of your staff, we will be conducting a

meeting at Rochester, New York on March 10, 1982 through ftarch 12, 1982.

The purpose of this visit is to meet with your staff to discuss the differences generated during the Integrated Assessment Program for various topics.

Also, we have agreed to discuss Topics III-2 and III-4.Aat a later date, as your analysis of these topics will not be completed until April l. 1982.

Since we will discuss both hardware and procedural/Technical Specification changes you should have plant operational personnel available for this meeting.

The proposed agenda for the-meeting is contained in the enclosure.

Discuss all differences,'opic by topic, generated during the Integrated Assessment.

2)

Allow the licensee to present final arguments or present any new informa-tion on differences.

3)

NRC to propose to the licensee the final list of differences which will be required to be resolved by the Integrated Assessment.

4)

Tour the Ginna station to obtain an appreciation of the differences and of the possible modifications required to resolve these differences.

5)

Discuss presentation to ACRS Subcommittee scheduled for March 18 and 19, 1982.

The presentation will tentatively include:

a.

A description of those topics that required the greatest amount of work or analysis to resolve.

b.

Anything that was discovered during the SEP reviews that the NRC required to be immediately corrected.

c.

Current status and schedule for completion.

d.

What type of cost/benefit criteria is used to resolve topics.

e.

RGSE's reaction to SEP.

f.

A description of the SEP modifications or planned modifications that the ACRS members will see during their tour.

This wi 11 be the licensee's final opportunity to present arguments regarding various differences and their safety s ignificance.

'Morninca The NRC will caucus to finalize the list of differences to be addressed in the Integrated Assessment Report for Ginna.

Afternoon Discussion of identified differences, their safety significance, costs and benefits and personnel exposure resulting from possible corrective actions.

Following this meeting the NRC staff will develop recommendations on back-fitting requirements for all identified differences.
