Dear Mr. Crutchfield:
Generic letter 82-05 dated March 17, 1982 from Darrel G. Eisenhut requested that we confirm the completion of certain post-TMI requirements and provide the completion dates, or that we propose a schedule for implementation.
Each of the items for which information was requested is addressed in Attachment A to this letter.
Very truly yours, J

ATTACHMENT A NUREG-0737 ITEMS REQUIRING LICENSEE RESPONSE Title NUR1~0737 Applicability Schedule Requir anent I.A.3.1 Simulator Exams 10/1/81 include simulator exams in licensing examinations Simulator exams have been scheduled as detailed in an RGE letter fran John E. Maier dated October 6, 1981 to Mr. Paul Collins, Chief, Operator Licensing Branch, USNRC.
II.B.2 Plant Shielding All 1/1/82 rmdify facility to provide access to vital areas under accident conditions The schedule for canpletion of plant rmdifications was addressed in an RGE letter fran John E. Arthur dated November 25, 1981 to Mr. Dennis M. Crutchfield, USNRC.
As a result of the plant outage beginning, in January 1982, our caanitm nt to have these rrodifications'anpleted by March 1, 1982 is 'revised so that the modifications will be ccmpleted before',
plant "startup ~ch is expected in May 1982.
II.B.3 Post.-accident Sampling All 1/1/82 install upgrade post-accident sampling capability A description of the equipment nodifications and the schedule for ccmpletion of this work has been given in an RGE letter fran John E. Maier dated September 4, 1981 to Mr. Dennis M. Crutchfield, USNRC.
We expect to have all of the required equigrent installed by July 1, 1982.
Riever, because of the length of the current outage and the additional hark and rmdifications that it has entailed, startup testing and cali-bration of the Post Accident Sampling System (PASS) may not be canpleted so as to put the system in service until September 1, 1982.
II.B.4 Training for All Mitigating Core Damage 10/1/81 ccmplete training program All licensed operators and licensed staff canpleted a course on mitigating core damage prior to October 1, 1981.
Scme non-licensed staff and health physics and instrum nt and control personne1 also received training on applicable portions of the course.
All non-licensed personnel canpleted this training by November 2, 1981.
II.E.1.2 Aux. Feedwater Initiation E Flnr Indicator 7/1/81 mxlify instrumentation to level of safety grade This topic has been the subject of substantial correspondence and discussion between the NRC Staff and RGB Staff.
We have, however, canpleted all of the requirem nts and supplied the requested information in references 4 to 20 of a letter fran John E. Maier dated January 19, 1982 to Dennis M. Crutchfield, USNRC.

Title NUR~737 Applicability Schedule Require@ant II.E.4.2 Containment Isolation Dependability 7/1/81-Part 5 lower containment pressure setpoint to level ccmpatible with normal operation 7/1/81 Part 7 isolate purge and vent valves on radiation signal Both of these requirements have been met at Ginna as described in RGE letters dated December 30, 1980 and November 19, 1979 and reconfirm'n a letter dated July 1, 1981 fran John E. Maier to Dennis M. Crutchfield, MNRC.
A letter with an attached safety evaluation report fran Dennis M. Crutchfield to John E. Maier dated July 15, 1981 confirmed that the containm nt pressure setpoint requirements had been met.,Revised Technical Specifications incorporating the lower setpoint were submitted in an application for license am ndment dated December 8, 1981.
Issuance of license Anendrrent 47 incorporating the change occurred on January 13, 1982.
II.F.1 Accident Monitoring All 1/1/82 1/1/82 1/1/82 1/1/82 1/1/82 1/1/82 (1) install noble gas effluent nanitors (2) provide capability for effluent nenitoring of iodine (3) install in-containment radiation-level mnitors (4) provide continuous indication of con-,
tainment pressure (5) provide continuous indication of con-tainment,water level
'6) provide continuous indication of hydrogen concentration in containm nt RGE letters addressed to Dennis M. Crutchfield dated November 25, 1981 fran John E. Arthur and January 19, 1982 fran John E. Maier have previously addressed the ccmpletion schedules f'or these itans.
We willhave canpleted installation of all of the required equi@nant prior to startup fran our current outage.
An application for amenchent to our license dated April 16, 1982 has been submitted to incorporate the hydrogen nnnitoring system into our contaiment isolation Technical Specification.
The hydrogen nanitors will be placed in service at plant startup contingent upon approval of that license am nant.
The containment sump level instrunentation for sump B is being replaced during our current outage to meet our ccomitaent to provide a system which meets current envirormental qualification criteria.

This equitant is currently undergoing cpalification testing in accordance with IEEE 323-1974.
Final test reports willbe canpleted late in 1982.
The naterials and design of the GBS DEIAVALlevel switches being installed have been reviewed prior to installation to establish confidence that the environmental test results willbe acceptable.
