In the coming months, NRC Regional Offices will initiate a program to inspect the status of safe
- shutdown, emergency lighting and oil collection systems at operating nuclear power plants.
To guide this inspection effort, the NRC Office of Inspection and Enforcement recently issued Temporary Instruction TI 2515/62, "Inspection of Safe Shutdown Requirements of 10 CFR 50, Appendix R (Section III.G) at Nuclear Power Plants Licensed to Operate Before January 1,
1979" and TI 2515/61, "Inspection of Emergency Lighting and Oil Collection Requirements of 10 CFR 50, Appendix R (Section III.J and 0) at Nuclear Power Plants Licensed to Operate before January 1,
1979."
Several licensees have requested that we send them a copy of TI 2515/62 and TI 2515/61.
In response to this general
- request, we are enclosing a copy of these TIs for your information.
Mhile we have not yet established a Region I inspection schedule for this program, we will gladly discuss any questions you may have concerning this future inspec-tion.
