Dear Mr. Eisenhut:
In response to your request for voluntary participation for questions posed on the subject letter, we offer the following response.
Our emergency diesel generator units are Alco 251 V16 engines which were originally supplied with water jacket heaters and a lube oil heating/recirculation system.
These systems are to maintain lubrication on necessary parts and to maintain a warm condition where required.
These systems are maintained operating when the units are operable, so we have not experienced any fast cold starts.
It is our opinion that fast cold starts for our unit will not meet our start-load time criteria and could be detrimental to the unit.
