STEAM GENERATOR TUBE SLEEVING PROGRAM Re:

E. Ginna Nuclear Power Plant In letters dated December 13,
- 1985, and December 23, 1985, and in C-E report CEN-320-P, the Rochester Gas and Electric Corporation (RGSE) notified NRC of your plans to have Combustion Engineering (C-E) perform repairs to the Ginna steam generators during the 1986 outage.
The C-E process incorporates a sleeve which is locally expanded at or near each end and then fusion welded.
Sleeving will extend completely through the tubesheet and a short distance above the "sludge" pile zone.
The program proposed by RGIlE entails diverse areas of material selection, preparation of tubing, installation of sleeve, and inspection of sleeve-to-tube weld joints as well as the remainder of the tubes.
The staff has completed its review and determined that the proposed sleeving program is acceptable.
The associated Safety Evaluation is attached.
