E. Ginna Nuclear Power Plant On February 27, 1985 Rochester Gas and Electric Corporation (RGSE) submitted an application to amend the operating license at the R.
E. Ginna Nuclear Power Plant to change the Technical Specifications to allow the storage of consolidated spent fuel.
On June 4, 1985 RGSE management met with Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation and Region I manage'ment to discuss the details of the request.
From our preliminary evaluation of your amendment, and as a result of the meeting, the staff has made the determination that the request has merit, and the concept is licensable assuming satisfactory resolution to any technical issues which may arise.
You should be aware that, a Notice of Consideration of Issu'ance of Amendment to License and a proposed no Significant Hazards Consideration Determination and Opportunity for Hearing related to the requested action must be published in the Federal
- Register, and a detailed review must be completed by the staff before the amendment request. can be approved.
The review should be completed by the end of July, 1985. If the staff's evaluation of the 'RGSE proposal supports your request, the amendment and associated safety evaluation will be issued before September 15, 1985.
