REQUEST FOR REINSTATEMENT OF NRC OPERATOR LICENSE NRC DOCKET NUMBER 55-7279

P. Piet to A. B. Davis letter dated October 26, 1992 On October 29, 1992, Region III received a letter from Mr. Peter Piet, Nuclear Licensing Administrator Dresden Nuclear Power Station, addressing the reinstatement of Mr. Steven E. Mattson's NRC Senior Reactor Operator {SRO) license, docket number 55-7279.
The letter requested the reinstatement of Mr. Mattson's license without further NRC examination.
Through our review process we determined that Mr. Mattson has been removed from actual plant operation for approximately one year and nine months.
However, he has continued to participate in the Dresden requalification program and passed the utility administered examinations each year (including 1992) since terminating his license in F~bruary 1991.
He has also successfully taken and passed the 1987 and 1990 NRC administered requalification examinations.
Based on his continued involvement in the requalification program, Mr. Mattson would adequately meet the necessary conditions to grant him a waiver from portions of the license examination.
However, prior to formally *processing his license reinstatement, you must submit an official license application for renewal (10 CFR 55.57) to the NRC with appropriate waiver requests pursuant to 10 CFR 55.47 (a).
