Dear Mr. Kober:
On July 8, 1983, we issued Generic Letter 83-28, "Required Actions Based on Generic Implications of Salem ATWS Events."
For Items 3. 1. 1 and 3. 1.2, "Post-Maintenance Testing Verification (RTS Components)";
3.2. 1 and 3.2.2, "Post-Maintenance Testing Verification (All Other Safety-Related
-Components)";
- 4. 1, "RTS Reliability (Vendor Related Modifications)"; and 4.5. 1, "RTS Reliability (System Functional Test Description)," you responded by letter dated November 4, 1983.
Based on our enclosed Safety Evaluation, we find your programs acceptable for the above referenced portions of the Ginna Plant Salem ATWS Program.
- However, Item 4.5. 1 requires that you justify not testing reactor trip breakers while on line, as discussed in the Safety Evaluation.
We will evaluate your response to this concern in our safety evaluation for Salem ATWS Item 4.5.3, "RTS Reliability (System Functional Testing)."
This review was performed by Region I under our TAC Nos.
- 52922, 53758, 53072 and 54068.
This letter completes action on these four reviews.
