Fire Protection Shutdown Analysis R.E.
Ginna Nuclear Power Plant Docket. No. 50-244
Dear Mr. Ziemann:
The Fire Protection Safety Evaluation Report which was transmitted by your letter of February 14, 1979 required that two studies be completed by 12/79.
Item 3.2.1 of the Safety Evaluation required that a study be performed of the capability to safely shutdown Ginna following a postulated fire.
Item 3.2.2 required a study of cable separation.
These two items have been addressed in a major study which is summarized in the attached report.
The report describes postulated fire areas, assumptions used in determining effects of the fire, shutdown methods, and conceptual modifications.
Specific modifications will be proposed after the Staff has reviewed and concurred with the assumptions and shutdown methods presented in the enclosure.
Very truly yours, L. D. Whi e, Jr.
