Dear Mr. Bower:
The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) is responding to the U.S. Department of Energys (DOE) June 1, 2017, transmittal of the subject work plan (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System [ADAMS] Accession No. ML17152A330) and the July 12, 2017 transmittal of the associated air modeling calculations (ADAMS Accession No. ML17198B280). The NRC staff has no further comments on this final work plan and the associated submittal.
The NRC staff plans to conduct a monitoring visit on August 22 and 23, 2017 focusing on the air monitoring aspects for the work plan to include a review of the various evaluations that DOE identified in its January 30, 2017 response (ADAMS Accession No. ML17039B033) to NRC comments (ADAMS Accession No. ML16253A178) on Rev. 3 of the subject work plan.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.390 of the NRCs Agency Rules of Practice and Procedure, a copy of this letter will be available electronically for public inspection in the NRC Public Document Room or from the Publicly Available Records component of NRCs ADAMS. ADAMS is accessible from the NRC Web site at http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/adams.html.
